OUR FRAMEWORK

INTERNET INDEPENDENT FRAMEWORK

The Internet Independent Framework takes a holistic approach to online safety education through three interconnected pillars. Each pillar addresses crucial aspects of online safety, preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of an increasingly connected world. Our curriculum evolves with technology, ensuring students develop the skills they need to thrive in digital spaces.

THREE CORE PILLARS OF ONLINE SAFETY
The framework is structured around three core pillars: Cyber Safety, Digital Wellbeing, and AI Safety, which are further expanded into 14 topics.

OUR PEDAGOGY
WHAT MAKES OUR CURRICULUM UNIQUE?
The Internet Independent curriculum framework employs a pedagogical approach that combines inquiry-based learning with careful scaffolding to build confidence and competence.

Students engage with real-world digital challenges through guided discovery and hands-on experience, while developmentally appropriate content ensures steady skill progression. Rather than prescribing rules, we emphasise critical thinking and analysis, empowering students to navigate both current and emerging digital challenges.
OUR APPROACH
AGE-APPROPRIATE LEARNING JOURNEYS
Our curriculum spans all grade levels between the ages of 7 to 17, ensuring every child—from early learners to high schoolers—builds the knowledge and skills necessary for safe and balanced digital engagement. This ensures a seamless progression across key developmental stages:

FOUNDATIONAL UNDERSTANDING (Ages 7-9)
Introduction to basic concepts like online safety, kindness, and responsible behaviour.

EXPANDING AWARENESS (Ages 10-12)
Exploring more complex online interactions and behaviours, such as privacy settings, misinformation, and digital boundaries.

BUILDING INDEPENDENCE (Ages 13-15)
Deepening understanding of digital identity, cybersecurity, and the emotional impact of online interactions.

PREPARING FOR ADULTHOOD (Ages 16-17)
Empowering students to critically evaluate the ethical and societal impacts of digital technology.
