OBJECTIVE

In 2023, Cyberlite collaborated with the High Commission of Canada in Singapore to make cyber wellness education more accessible and inclusive for the local community. The partnership focused on translating Cyberlite’s popular cyber safety workbook, Ready, Get Set, Connect!, into Mandarin. As one of Singapore’s four official languages, Mandarin is widely spoken across the country. The translation aimed to broaden the workbook’s reach and provide more children and families with the tools to navigate the digital world safely.

IMPLEMENTATION

Localisation and Translation:

The project began with the localisation and translation of Ready, Get Set, Connect! into Mandarin. Great care was taken to ensure the cultural and linguistic nuances of Singapore were reflected in the translation, ensuring the content resonated with the local audience. This process aligned with Cyberlite’s mission to adapt cyber wellness education to diverse communities and languages.

Resource Support:

Beyond the translation, the sponsorship by the High Commission of Canada enabled the printing and distribution of the translated workbooks to local communities. These resources were made freely available to children and families, empowering them to develop critical digital safety skills. By removing barriers to access, the initiative ensured that more individuals could benefit from the resource regardless of their socioeconomic status.

IMPACT

This initiative significantly enhanced the accessibility of cyber wellness education in Singapore by delivering Ready, Get Set, Connect! in Mandarin to a wider audience. The translated workbooks have helped bridge language gaps, fostering a deeper understanding of online safety among Mandarin-speaking children and families.

By supporting the localisation and distribution of this vital resource, the High Commission of Canada in Singapore played a key role in promoting inclusivity and empowering local communities with the knowledge to thrive in the digital age. The collaboration stands as a testament to the importance of cultural adaptability in advancing global cyber wellness education.
