UPCOMING EVENT
Equipping Students to Think Critically and Engage Responsibly with AI (Oct 28)
As generative AI becomes part of young people’s everyday lives, educators need practical ways to address not only how these tools are used, but how students can navigate them safely, critically, and responsibly.
Join Cyberlite and Microsoft during Global Media and Information Literacy Week for a first look at the expanded AI Classroom Toolkit: Unlocking Generative AI Safely and Responsibly. This classroom-ready toolkit gives educators a single, practical resource for addressing today’s most pressing AI issues, including digital safety, privacy, wellbeing, responsible use, and, with the new modules, a deeper focus on critical thinking, verification, and media and AI literacy.
Designed to be practical and easy to use, the toolkit does not require educators to be AI experts or to put an AI tool into students’ hands. Its scenario-based lessons, discussion prompts, and facilitator guidance build on skills educators already use, including inquiry, reflection, and critical thinking.
During the session, participants will explore the expanded lessons and activities, hear what Cyberlite and Microsoft have learned from the toolkit’s initial implementation, and get a first look at What Type of AI User Are You?, a new interactive quiz to help students reflect on their AI habits, strengths, and potential blind spots. Participants will leave with practical resources they can adapt to their own classrooms, curricula, and communities, wherever they are on their AI journey.
Whether you are an educator, curriculum specialist, media literacy practitioner, teacher trainer, or education policymaker, this session will offer an approachable way to begin or deepen essential conversations about young people’s lives in an AI-enabled world.
Not a good time? Sign up for the October 27th session instead!
